Advance Furniture

Normally when I write about companies I have a a bone to pick with them. That is not the case this time. I had a very great experience with Advance Furniture.

Last year Mary and I decided it was time to shop around for a new bedroom set. We found a set we really liked at a store in the Rochester area. I googled the name of the manufacturer and was surprised at what I found. First I found that the local store quoted us prices higher than what they advertised on their own website! I was also surprised to find an online furniture store out of Buffalo that delivered for free to Rochester that carried the same product.

To some extent I pitted the two furniture dealers against each other seeking the best price. I knew the product would be the same. In the end the store from Rochester promised to “beat” the price from the other dealer. They never said by how much and I had such a sour opinion of them by this point that I went with the dealer from Buffalo, Advance Furniture.

Everything went smoothly with Advance. When the furniture was delivered and setup I discovered significant damage to the bed. There was a large scratch as well as some moderate dings to the bed frame. Advance arranged to replace the damaged parts and to come out and install the new parts for me. I was surprised that one of the owners came out to do the repair.

Another minor issue with the bed was that a center support was too high causing a noticeable lift from the mattress in the center. John, the guy that came out to replace the damaged pieces, wasn’t able to repair this problem but took the piece causing the problem back to the shop. After modifying the piece they mailed it back to me — better than new. They also mailed a few screws as the night stands were missing a couple of screws that caused the drawers to come off track.

I’m very happy that I decided to go with Advance. They gave me a good price and fantastic customer service. They really did more than I expected. If I have any furniture needs in the future I’ll be looking at Advance first.
