Firsts for Cassie

July 11th, 2007 by mary

Well, it has been quite a while since I’ve posted to our blog. I guess I’ve been pretty busy with Cassie. She’s 6 weeks old now and changing every day. On June 24th, Cassie gave me her first smile. She gave Greg her first smile on the 4th of July. Just two days ago, July 9th, Cassie gave Greg her first giggle and I got my first giggle yesterday, July 10th. She’s grown up so much that now she is fitting into most of her newborn outfits. She’s very excited about this because she was getting tired of not fitting into so many of her cute outfits!

Cassie had her first stretch of 5 hours between feedings on Monday night. We were so excited! It was strange though. Most of the time she goes 3 hours between feedings. The past 2 days she’s had a couple of 4 hour stretches as well.

Cassie loves to dance with her Daddy. They dance just about every day together. This is kind of odd since her Daddy doesn’t really like to dance, at least with her Mommy.

I am about to post a bunch of new pictures. Be sure to check them out! I have to go now, Cassie is calling me!

An Easy Run Before the Race

July 10th, 2007 by greg

I wanted to get a few miles in before the Boilermaker to more properly complete a taper.  Also since I’m trying to follow a training plan for a marathon in the fall I want to keep my mileage up.  The Boilermaker put a damper on my planned training runs so I compromised.  I ended up running 2.2 miles on the Friday before the race.  I ran it as an easy run and finished in 19:22, an 8:49 pace.  I ran it at 9 PM after a short workout at the gym.

Early Morning Run

July 6th, 2007 by greg

On July 4th I got up early so that I would have time to run a few miles.  I didn’t have to work that day but there was a lot planned.  The only way to get a run in was to get up early.  I must be insane to sacrifice sleep for running.  Normally I wouldn’t think much of it but Cassie tires me out (and I’m not even with her much)!

It was raining and about 62 degrees.  It was 7:45 AM when I started.  I wore two running shirts to keep warm.  I hate wearing shirts while running but I knew I’d freeze without them.  28 minutes and 4 seconds later I was back home.  I didn’t push myself at all.  I was trying to get a few miles in but allow a decent taper so that I can have a good time at the Boilermaker.

Tonight I’m hoping to run 2.2 miles.  Then on Sunday I’ll be running the Boilermaker 15k.  After that it’s back to my regularly scheduled training plan to get in shape for the 2007 Rochester Marathon.

The Hair that Broke the Man’s Image

July 1st, 2007 by greg

I think about strange things when I run.  That’s one of the best parts of long runs.  It gives you time to get completely lost in thoughts.  I used to do that a lot as a teenager and I think that I was smarter as a teenager than I am now.  I also think that all that time thinking is partly why.  Lately I’ve been thinking about losing my hair.
